New technology gets PlateSmart its fourth consecutive ASTORS win

OLDSMAR, Fla. — Dec. 2, 2019 — Industry-leading innovator PlateSmart Technologies took home a Platinum Award for Best License Plate Recognition System at American Security Today’s 2019 ASTORS Homeland Security Awards with its new Powered by PlateSmart™ product offering. The awards were presented at the ISC East tradeshow in New York City.
The award also earned PlateSmart the recognition of being the first LPR provider to be a four-time ASTORS Award winner, having been recognized in 2016, 2017, and 2018 with gold and platinum ASTORS awards for best-of-breed LPR solutions.

Built upon AI and deep machine learning, Powered by PlateSmart lets solution providers extend the capabilities of their products to include reading license plates, their state jurisdiction, vehicle make, and color. Orientation (front, rear, or side) and type will soon be available.
Powered by PlateSmart reads and delivers the vehicle data — including the plate image if the customer desires — to the business solution via the plugin. This allows the business solution to manage the data within its own environment for a seamless user experience.

Chigos said that PlateSmart began referring to its LPR technology as a vehicle recognition solution about two years ago. The company envisioned the need for LPR to evolve into a tool that could capture more vehicle data. PlateSmart’s approach provides users with functionalities and previously unattainable analytics adaptable to the user’s needs, from law enforcement applications to those of a commercial user.
Powered by PlateSmart is ideal for video management system (VMS) providers, video surveillance solutions, parking and vehicle management, customer experience enhancement, school bus safety, and tolling operations. PlateSmart has seen great interest in Powered by PlateSmart and recently announced the adoption of the solution by Averics Systems for its AvericsUnity™ security management system.
PlateSmart was the first license plate recognition (LPR) company to bring a software-only, camera-agnostic object recognition LPR solution to market.
